Charity launches contest to snap River Tyne
A North East charity is calling on photographers to showcase the River Tyne in all its glory.
Tyne Rivers Trust has launched its 2026 calendar photo contest, inviting amateur and professional photographers to submit their best images of the Tyne and its surroundings.
Sponsored by EGGER, the calendar raises vital funds to support the charity’s conservation work.
Photographs can be taken from any part of the river catchment from the sources of the North and South Tyne, to Tynemouth where it meets the North Sea.
Simone Saville, head of learning and engagement at Tyne Rivers Trust, said: “Rivers have such diverse qualities, and we love seeing the photographs that people send in showing us what the Tyne means to them.
“These can be urban or rural images, photographs of wildlife that rely on the rivers, or the beautiful scenic areas that provide a backdrop to them.”
Twelve winning images will be chosen that show the river throughout the seasons and the variety of biodiversity that depends on it to survive.
The deadline for entries is Friday, August 15, with the calendar available for purchase later this year via the Trust’s website.
Members of the public can enter by sending up to three images to info@tyneriverstrust.org.
You can find the criteria for submitting images here.
