Healthwatch welcome new team members

Healthwatch Gateshead and Healthwatch Newcastle have bolstered their teams with two new appointments as they continue their work in improving local health and social care services.

Dan Milburn, from Consett, has been appointed lead officer for Healthwatch Newcastle.

He said: “Before this, I worked in a leisure centre in management and as a lifeguard.

“This role is a big change for me, but I’m excited to oversee our team’s engagement and outreach efforts.

“Our focus is on working together to improve health and social care services through community involvement.”

Becca Neale, who is originally from Kirkwhelpington, Northumberland, joins as engagement and involvement officer for Healthwatch Gateshead.

With a background in mental health and an MSc in Psychology focusing on women’s health, Becca is poised to make a significant contribution to the organisation’s community engagement efforts.

She added: “Joining Healthwatch Gateshead felt like a natural step for me.

“It aligns perfectly with my studies and passion for community health.

“The team has been amazing and I love being out in the community, building relationships with local groups.

“A great example is our work with Age UK Gateshead and their 65+ friendship group.”

Dan and Becca will be instrumental in amplifying the voices of local residents to help shape the region’s health and social care services.
