Wykeland expands portfolio with retail site
A Hull-based property developer is set to breathe new life into a landmark Grimsby site.
Wykeland Group has bought the former Ramsdens Superstore and agreed to sell just over an acre of the land to frozen food retailer Farmfoods for a new 15,000sq ft store, subject to planning permission.
Farmfoods says the store will create up to 20 jobs.
The developer will retain the rest of the renamed Ramsden Park and invest around £100,000 to improve the site, including structural repairs to a property fronting Cleethorpe Road, while exploring future regeneration opportunities.
Wykeland previously brought Starbucks to the site three years ago, and remains active in Grimsby through projects such as the Europarc business park.
Jonathan Stubbs, development director at Wykeland Group, said: “We’re pleased to have acquired the site from Ramsden Group and have also concluded a deal, subject to planning consent, to bring in new investment from one of the UK’s most popular food retailers.
“As well as supporting Farmfoods through the planning process, we’ll be investing in improvements on site and exploring further development opportunities.
“We’re committed to the regeneration of this important location on the main route between Grimsby and Cleethorpes, and keen to hear from investors who would like to work with us to realise its potential.”
