Avant Homes plots new £51 million development
A North East housebuilder is set to expand its footprint with a major residential scheme near Darlington.
Sunderland-headquartered Avant Homes North East has secured planning permission to build 230 new homes in Middleton St George.
Known as Winfield Park, bosses say the £51 million development will offer a mix of two to five-bedroom properties, including 50 affordable homes.
Andrew Finnigan, managing director of Avant Homes North East, said: “Winfield Park will provide much needed quality new homes for people wanting to enjoy all that Middleton St George has to offer, including easy access to nearby towns and beautiful countryside.
“Our practically designed, energy efficient homes will suit a wide range of buyers from first timers to growing families and downsizers.
“This will ensure Winfield Park becomes home to a thriving and diverse community that will complement the area.”
Work is due to start in June, with the first homes on sale by February and residents moving in from April.
The 16-acre scheme forms part of a wider local plan and includes £403,500 in community contributions from Avant.
