Morpeth gets a taste of COOK
A Northumberland shopping centre has welcomed a new addition offering a homemade touch to frozen meals.
Award-winning food retailer COOK has opened a new store at Sanderson Arcade, in Morpeth, marking its first standalone location in the North East.
The shop officially opened on April 11 with a ribbon-cutting by local fundraiser Calli Tully, who has devoted her time to supporting others after undergoing major heart surgery as a teenager.
As well as officially opening the shop, Calli was given £100 in COOK vouchers and the chance to donate £100 to a charity of her choice on behalf of the company.
COOK, founded in Farnham, Surrey, in 1997 and led by siblings Rosie Brown and Ed Perry, sells hand-prepared frozen meals and puddings, including options for various dietary needs, providing a home-cooked experience without the hassle of preparing meals from scratch.
The frozen meal specialist has created eight new jobs at the site, joining the Arcade’s growing line-up of national and independent retailers.
Matthew Bourne, retail director at Cook, said: ‘We have been looking to open a shop in the North East and this is our first shop in this area.
“We are really excited to be here and be an active part of the local community.”
Lottie Thompson, centre manager at Sanderson Arcade, added: “COOK brings something completely different to Sandersons Arcade and we’re really pleased to welcome the new store team to the centre.
“The store looks fantastic and the opening event has created a real buzz at the centre.”
