Clive Owen champions the Angel Trust

A North East accountancy firm is strengthening its community ties through a new charity partnership focused on helping vulnerable people across County Durham.

Clive Owen LLP, which has offices in Darlington, Durham, York, Middlesbrough and Newcastle, has become a corporate partner of the Angel Trust, following its support for the charity’s Christmas Toy Appeal.

The firm says they will provide ongoing support for the Bishop Auckland-based charity through fundraising and volunteering.

Clive Owen’s internal sustainability team raised over £10,000 for good causes last year and will now help set up a clothing bank drop-off zone and take part in the Great North Run to support the charity’s work.

Carl Wright, partner and sustainability lead at Clive Owen LLP, said: “It is an honour to be a corporate partner of such a fantastic organisation.

“We already have some exciting opportunities for volunteering and fundraising set up to help the charity with its plans to expand its service offering.

“The Angel Trust does some great work with local people, tackling important issues such as child poverty and mental health, and we are very proud to be supporting the team with these initiatives.”

The Angel Trust delivers year-round services including a foodbank, clothing centre and 24/7 safe-space hub, supporting individuals dealing with poverty, debt and addiction.

Named ‘Charity of the Year’ at the County Durham Together Awards, it runs a packed calendar of events to engage and assist local communities.

Clair McGregor, chief executive of the Angel Trust, added: “Having a firm like Clive Owen on board is so beneficial to our team.

“Having support throughout the year through both financial and voluntary aid allows us to prioritise helping local people.

“Our charity prides itself on being for the people, whether its emergency accommodation or helping an elderly person to set up a bank account, we will always lend a hand to those in need.”
