OnPath powers 200,000 homes

A renewable energy company is powering up its impact after generating enough electricity in 2024 to supply nearly 200,000 UK homes.

Sunderland-headquartered OnPath Energy’s portfolio of 12 onshore wind farms across England and Scotland produced more than 660,000 megawatt-hours of electricity last year.

This helped offset carbon emissions equivalent to taking over 91,000 petrol cars off the road.

In the North East, the firm’s Moor House Wind Farm, near Darlington, and Lambs Hill Wind Farm, near Stockton, delivered more than 56,000 megawatt-hours between them, alongside more than £51,000 in combined community benefit contributions.

Owned by Brookfield Asset Management, OnPath is a key player in the UK’s clean energy transition and is planning to invest £1 billion in new projects over the next five years.

Work has begun on the Mill Rig Wind Farm in South Lanarkshire, with construction set to start soon on the Barnsdale Solar Energy Park, near Leeds, and the co-located Common Farm Solar Energy Park in South Yorkshire.

The company also acquired the Milton Keynes Wind Farm, in Buckinghamshire, and the Pates Hill Wind Farm, in West Lothian, and has over 3GW of clean energy and storage in its development pipeline.

Richard Dunkley, chief executive at OnPath Energy, said: “The business has made huge progress over the last year while continuing to generate considerable amounts of renewable electricity, and we are now working towards increasing the contribution that we can make towards the UK achieving its clean power and net-zero ambitions.

“Our commitment to delivering substantial amounts of funding for community improvement projects remains as strong as ever, with the dedication and creativity of the dozens of groups we support every year always being hugely impressive.

“OnPath has ambitious plans to make further capital investment in high-quality renewable energy infrastructure and is continuing to grow in terms of our diversity of projects and technologies, as well as geographically.

“This approach will amplify the part we play in a net-zero future for the UK and will help to lower consumer bills in the long term, improve the UK’s energy security and deliver a just transition that is fair and inclusive for everyone.”
