Brightsolid expands with Synergi deal
A Dundee-based cloud services company has enhanced its portfolio with the acquisition of an English IT provider.
Brightsolid, known for its cloud computing and cyber security solutions, has purchased the entire shareholding of Gateshead-based IT firm Synergi for an undisclosed sum, adding 59 employees to its team.
Synergi, founded in 2013, offers services in automation, data & AI, cyber security and business applications, with notable clients including Princes, NHS Highland, Arriva, Lothian Buses and Scottish Fire & Rescue Service.
Bosses say the deal broadens Brightsolid’s reach and enhances its service offerings across various sectors.
They add that Synergi will retain its brand and continue operations without disruption for its clients or staff.
Elaine Maddison, chief executive of Brightsolid, which also has offices in Aberdeen and Manchester and serves major clients including Shell and the University of Dundee, said: “Over the past year, Brightsolid has been actively looking for an organisation that can extend our range of services and support our growth plans across the UK.
“As a highly successful Microsoft Partner, Synergi does all of that and more.
“The culture and people are a brilliant fit for Brightsolid and we anticipate growth opportunities for both brands going forwards.”
Peter Joynson, Synergi co-founder and chief executive, added: “Whilst we’ve been approached by buyers previously, we feel that the alignment and cultural fit Brightsolid provides make them a truly perfect match.
“They are a great bunch of positive, friendly and very smart people.
“Brightsolid specialises in cloud, colocation, cyber resilience and business continuity, so there are going to be lots of opportunities for us to work together to grow both companies, helping us meet our ongoing commitments to the business and our combined future success.”
