Council’s recruitment event returns for 2025
A North East council is highlighting fresh career opportunities for local residents as it brings back a hands-on recruitment event.
Newcastle City Council will host its Apprenticeship Recruitment Event on Tuesday, April 29 at the Civic Centre, offering a wide range of earn-while-you-learn roles including plastering, joinery, gas engineering, mechanics, civil engineering, highways, administration and more.
Open from 3pm to 6.30pm, the event will provide details on the roles, training and application process.
Attendees will also be able to apply on the day, with staff offering on-the-spot support.
Apprenticeships are available to anyone aged 16 and over.
Councillor Dan Greenhough, cabinet member for economy, jobs and skills at Newcastle City Council, said: “This event is an opportunity for us to showcase the importance of apprenticeships and the role they play not only in the day-to-day running of the council but also helping people take their first steps in a career.
“An apprenticeship provides opportunities to gain new skills, learn about working in different environments and gain qualifications, all while receiving a salary.
“The council has invested greatly in its apprenticeship programme and currently has the most number of apprentices, with 230 currently learning while earning.
“We hope those interested in an apprenticeship and starting a career with the council come along to this event to find out more about what is on offer.”
