Bellway showcases ‘landmark’ Modello project
A North East housebuilder is showcasing its latest regeneration work as it seeks new opportunities to build more homes across the region.
Bellway North East recently welcomed land professionals to its Modello development at Gateshead Quayside, where it is transforming the former Greenesfield Railway Works site, off Fletcher Road, into 98 one and two-bedroom apartments.
Visitors were given a guided tour through the construction stages, including rooftop views and a look inside the completed show apartments.
David McCrindle, regional director for Bellway North East, said: “We were keen to share the work we have been doing at Modello with leading professionals in the land and development sector locally, as this development is a great example of how a former industrial site can be successfully transformed into an attractive new residential community.
“This is a landmark site in the Bridges Conservation Area, with the Tyne Bridge and Glasshouse International Centre for Music on the doorstep site, and we have carefully designed the development to respect the heritage of the surrounding neighbourhood, characterised by its Victorian rail links and river crossings.
“We have also planned the scheme to meet the needs of today’s customers, with landscaped open space and a children’s play area.
“Our guests at the land event were able to see exactly what we have achieved here, and we could discuss our approach in depth as we took visitors on a tour of the project.
“We are always looking for new land opportunities across the area and this event was an ideal forum to showcase what Bellway can deliver.”
