Henley joins flagship regeneration project
A West Yorkshire specialist contractor is supporting a “transformational” town centre regeneration project that promises to transform a much-loved landmark into a vibrant new destination.
Henley Stone Specialists, part of the Henley Construction Management Group, has been appointed to deliver the Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) package for the first phase of Our Cultural Heart, in Huddersfield.
Led by BAM Construction for Kirklees Council, the project will see the 1970s market building reimagined as a modern food hall and community library, anchored by a striking public square.
Wakefield-based Henley Stone Specialists will manage the full GRC scope, from early design through to installation, using a material prized for its strength, fire resistance and design flexibility.
Dave Cawley, construction director at Henley Construction Management Group, said: “As a business rooted in West Yorkshire, it means a great deal to be involved in a regeneration project of this scale and significance right here in our Groups region.
“From the outset, we have worked closely with BAM to support early-stage design detailing and logistics, ensuring the GRC package integrates smoothly with the wider programme.
“This is about more than installation, it is about smart planning, collaboration, and adding value to a transformational project in a place we are proud to call home.”
Matt Garnett, construction manager for BAM, added: “We are committed to collaborating with regional specialists who understand the area, its challenges, and its potential.
“Henley Stone Specialist’s knowledge of both the product and the area makes them a valuable partner in achieving that vision.”
