Hellens Residential appoints non-executive director
Hellens Residential, a North East-based provider of social housing, has appointed Joe Docherty as a non-executive director.
With an extensive career in housing, regeneration and governance, Joe brings a wealth of experience to the role.
He previously served as deputy chief executive of Home Group and has held senior roles at Tees Valley Regeneration and NCG.
He also chairs the Northern Powergrid Foundation and Durham University’s board.
Joe’s appointment follows the retirement of long-standing board member Gary Lumby.
Joe said: “I’m very pleased to be joining Hellens Residential at such a pivotal moment.
“The organisation has a clear vision for growth and a strong commitment to community impact.
“I look forward to working with Kate, Gavin and the team to support the delivery of more affordable homes and thriving neighbourhoods across the North of England.”

Hellens Residential, part of the Hellens Group, currently manages 300 homes across the region, with more than 110 additional units in development.
