Sale lines up new future for road markings firm
A second-generation road marking firm has a new future lined up following a takeover.
Jack Coupe and Sons Limited has been bought by Stuart Davison.
And its new owner has unveiled “exciting growth plans to expand its operations” across the north and south of England.
The contractor was founded by Jack Coupe in 1984, in Shildon, County Durham, and taken on by his sons Mark and Martin Coupe in 2010.
Employing 42 staff, the business, which combines a Coupe Line North base in Shildon with a Coupe Line Southern site in Droxford, near Southampton, also includes markings removal division H2-GO and markings material maker Shildon Thermoplastics.
Martin said: “It was really important we found the right person to take over our family business and continue our legacy, while also looking after our loyal workforce.
“We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Coupe Group and wish Stuart well; he is the perfect fit to continue the growth of the business.”
The Coupe family was supported by the corporate finance team at national accountancy and business advisory firm Armstrong Watson, and Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester-based law firm Ward Hadaway.
David Wilson, Armstrong Watson corporate finance partner, said: “Our clients were very selective on who should acquire the group to protect and grow the staff, brand and family legacy.
“Once we introduced Stuart, there was no doubt he was the right person to build on their exceptional market position.”
Richard Butts, Ward Hadaway corporate partner, added: “We were delighted to advise on this highly significant transaction, particularly as we have a longstanding relationship with the family and the Coupe Group.”
