Airport celebrates 700 years of service
Teesside International Airport has honoured over 30 long-serving staff members for their dedication, collectively amassing more than 700 years of service.
During a special ceremony at the Airport Sky Bar, the airport recognised 34 employees across various departments, with 14 marking over 25 years of commitment.
This included Karen Maidment, who recently celebrated 40 years of service and was given special recognition for her 35 years in Air Traffic Control, helping keep the region’s skies safe.
New recognition policies will now officially acknowledge staff after every decade of service, with a special milestone for those reaching 40 years.
Phil Forster, managing director at Teesside Airport, said: “We’re a family at Teesside Airport and to have so many committed long-serving staff who have given most of their careers to the airport is both humbling and shows what a brilliant group we have.
“We spend a huge portion of our lives at work and the commitment they’ve shown over decades has kept the flame burning at the airport and kept us running through thick and thin.
“You can’t buy experience – and their deep knowledge and expertise is now helping us take the airport forward as we grow and become more sustainable.
“I’d like to thank every one of them and wish them many more happy years to come with us.”
Steve Land, operations director, who has also worked for Teesside Airport for more than 25 years, added: “We’ve made some good memories over the years, gone through challenges but had some great laughs, too.
“Having so many people stay for so long shows we’re a good place to work – and I hope those starting out on their careers with us know they have the option to build a great working life here with us.”
