Teesworks’ park and ride facility powers ahead
A new park and ride facility is taking shape in Redcar to support the growing demand for transportation from construction workers involved in the Net Zero Teesside Power project.
Located near Steel House on the Teesworks site, the 1500-space car park is making "rapid progress", with contractors making the most of dry spring weather to push the scheme forward.
When complete, it will serve around 2000 workers at the peak of the development.
Funded by the Tees Valley Combined Authority and South Tees Development Corporation, the development has cleared all planning conditions, unlocking the next phases of work.
A new junction off the A1085 will provide access, while additional tree planting will be carried out as part of the environmental plan.
Ben Houchen, Tees Valley mayor and chair of the South Tees Development Corporation, said: “This is another big step forward in making Teesworks the most connected and construction-ready industrial site in the UK.
“It means we’re on track to welcome hundreds of workers to help build Net Zero Teesside and make the most of the huge developments in clean energy projects taking shape.
“We have some very good discussions ongoing at a very high level to see hundreds more acres become home to world-leading innovative businesses.
“This all bodes well to bring more good, well-paid jobs to local people.”
