CTV awarded King’s Award for Enterprise
A wholesale business based in Oldham has been awarded a King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, recognising its global success.
Clear Value Trading (CVT), which supplies branded toiletries and household products, has seen international sales grow significantly, now accounting for over 63 per cent of its business.
Its expansion has been driven by adapting to post-Brexit trade dynamics and building a strong presence in markets such as Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
Matthew Sowerby, director of CVT, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be honoured with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.
“Our team has worked hard to grow our market outside the UK for many years, but it is particularly pleasing to have been able to do so and exceed our goals during an uncertain period for global trade.
“Due to the nature of retailing in the UK, and increasingly in other countries, the market is fiercely price sensitive.
“And, as SMEs like us do not have the buying power of the major retailers, it can be difficult for smaller players to compete.
“That’s why we are so proud to have achieved sustained growth since we formed the business and, with the expansion in our international market, we believe there is still enormous potential to increase our customer base further in the years to come.”
The King’s Awards for Enterprise, renamed in 2023 to reflect His Majesty The King’s legacy, recognise outstanding UK businesses.
Now in its 59th year, the programme is the UK’s most prestigious business award, allowing winners to use the King’s Awards emblem for five years.
