Hull care group trains focus on businesses
A care provider is expanding its impact beyond the social care sector by offering professional training to businesses across Yorkshire.
Hull-headquartered HICA Group has launched its new city-centre training academy, based just off Freetown Way, to deliver a wide range of workplace courses to local employers, charities and individuals.
Previously used to train its 1500 staff, the academy’s portfolio now includes emergency first aid, safeguarding, dementia awareness and fire marshal training.
With flexible options for onsite or in-house delivery, bosses say the new offer aims to support businesses across Hull and East Yorkshire looking to meet compliance, upskill staff and boost workplace wellbeing.
They add that the academy plans to hold a public open day later this spring to welcome businesses, with live demonstrations and the chance to meet the trainers.
Steve Reed, head of learning and development at HICA, said: “Our aim has always been to raise standards through good quality, engaging training.
“We’ve worked hard to create a professional, welcoming environment that businesses can trust and that their teams enjoy learning in.
“Whether you’re a café looking to boost your first aid credentials or a housing provider needing safeguarding support, we’re ready to help.”
Terry Peel, chief executive at HICA Group, added: “This expansion is a natural step for us.
“We have the expertise, the infrastructure and the passion to make a difference beyond our own workforce.
“Businesses are looking for training partners they can rely on and that’s what we offer - practical and personalised programmes delivered by professionals who genuinely care.”
