Road contractor drives on with £5.7 million boost
A second-generation highways maintenance and civil engineering firm says it has paved the way for fresh growth after securing a £5.7 million loan.
J Hopkins Contractors has been backed by OakNorth.
Officials at the Manchester-based, family-owned operator say the funding will be used to buy a new 6.4-acre headquarters site in Irlam, Salford, and expand its plant and equipment range.
Founded in 1973 by John and Maureen Hopkins, the firm is known for carrying out surfacing projects across highways and airfields, as well as delivering drainage services.
Noel Hopkins, managing director, said: “The new site is a significant milestone, providing the space and resources needed to support our long-term growth strategy.”
Stewart Haworth, director of debt finance at digital bank OakNorth, added: “J Hopkins Contractors exemplifies the type of resilient, growth-oriented business we are committed to supporting.
“With contractor revenue set for growth over the next five years, driven by major infrastructure programmes, the firm’s acquisition of the Irlam site positions it perfectly to capitalise on this tailwind.”
