Coleman James appoints non-executive director
Specialist recruiter Coleman James has named Paul Metcalfe as a non-executive director, supporting the company’s ambitious growth plans.
Paul brings extensive experience scaling recruitment firms, having led AndersElite to £100 million turnover and founded Fusion People, which grew to £150 million globally.
Since 2017, he has advised multiple recruitment businesses.
Paul said: “My passion is to support recruitment businesses in their growth and success.
“Andrew and I share similar career paths, having both worked for AndersElite and Hill McGlynn in construction recruitment before founding our respective businesses.
“We both strive to foster high-performance cultures, and I see tremendous ambition within the Coleman James team.
“Aligning this ambition with construction, rail and facilities management opportunities is an exciting challenge.”
Paul joins a strong leadership team including managing director Andrew Mackay and operations director Sandra Kennedy, aiming to help Coleman James reach £20 million turnover within five years.
Coleman James was ranked ninth in Ward Hadaway’s Fastest 50 list of fastest-growing northern businesses in 2024.
Andrew added: “Paul’s arrival is timely as we embark on our next growth phase ahead of our tenth financial year.
“His background in recruitment and experience growing successful businesses is invaluable, and our shared early career experiences make Paul a natural fit.
“In his role, he will support the board with strategic decision-making, as well as mentor our senior leadership team.
“It’s fantastic to have him on board, and we are already benefitting from his unique insights.”
