ZTL appoints commercial director
ZTL, a leading Middlesbrough-based earthworks contractor, has appointed Josh Sayer as its new commercial director.
Part of the Applebridge Family, which reported a combined turnover of over £150 million in 2024, ZTL itself achieved a turnover exceeding £40 million last year.
Josh brings more than ten years’ experience within the Applebridge group, most recently serving as Applebridge commercial manager.
His promotion reflects ZTL’s commitment to nurturing talent internally.
In his new role, Josh will lead project control and strategy development, focusing on strengthening client relationships and supporting team growth.
His leadership aims to enhance ZTL’s commercial approach and ensure top-quality delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
Josh said: “One of my first objectives is to analyse our current processes and capabilities to ensure we’re operating at the highest level of efficiency possible.
“I also want to enhance commercial oversight on our projects, supporting teams to deliver high-quality outcomes while nurturing strong, lasting partnerships with clients.
“I was drawn to the role by the opportunity to contribute to a business with such strong potential.
“ZTL is a growing business, and the ambition and talent across the company are clear.
“I’m proud to be part of its journey.”
Josh’s appointment highlights Applebridge’s dedication to promoting driven and forward-thinking talent from within its ranks.
Chris Brown, managing director of the Applebridge Family, added: “Josh has been a valuable part of the Applebridge Family for over ten years.
“His in-depth understanding of the business, combined with his strategic mindset and passion for collaboration, made him the natural choice for this role.
“We are confident he will bring great value to ZTL as it enters its next phase of growth.”
