Hexham laundry business cleans up green
A North East cleaning company has expanded into the Tyne Valley with a new eco-focused dry cleaning and laundry shop in Hexham.
Launder and Press has opened its latest branch on St Luke’s Road, bringing over two decades of industry experience and a commitment to sustainable practices.
Led by Jeanette Groom and area manager Natalie Worts, the team offers water-based dry cleaning using the environmentally friendly Electrolux Lagoon system, which uses water-based cleaning instead of traditional solvents like perchloroethylene (PERC).
Natalie said: “We’re more than just a laundry. We pride ourselves on being a community-based, independent business with a traditional approach to customer care.
“We believe in good old-fashioned customer service, where even dogs get a biscuit when they visit!”
“Our use of the Electrolux Lagoon system is a game-changer for those who are looking for eco-friendly dry cleaning in Hexham.
“It’s important to us that we minimise our environmental footprint while still providing top-quality cleaning services.
“We’re proud to be one of the few in the region offering this advanced, green alternative.”
The business serves local residents as well as hotels, restaurants and Airbnb hosts across the wider region, including customers travelling from Kielder.
With services ranging from suit cleaning to wedding dress preservation and alterations, the new site is also eyeing future growth through potential franchise opportunities, aiming to bring its community-driven model to more towns across the North East.
Natalie added: “Hexham is the perfect place for our new location and we’re excited to bring our professional service to this vibrant community.
“We also pride ourselves on bringing independent small shops back to the High Street and the community and being ultra local, we offer free parking for those people coming from a bit further afield.”
