Pedal power to boost Tees Valley businesses
A Tees Valley business network is encouraging local firms to tap into the economic opportunities presented by this summer’s high-profile cycling events.
Visit Tees Valley Business Network is teaming up with British Cycling to host a free webinar on Thursday, May 22, offering advice on how to make the most of the Tour of Britain Women’s race.
The elite cycling event will roll into the region on June 5-6, with two action-packed stages drawing spectators to hotspots including Redcar, Billingham, Yarm, Guisborough, Brotton, Hartlepool and Saltburn.
Businesses from across the visitor economy are invited to learn how to prepare for the surge in footfall, promote their services and contribute to the buzz, with more cycling tourism initiatives planned for later in the year.
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen said: “The Tour of Britain Women’s race is another huge moment for Tees Valley, putting us on the national stage and showing off everything our area has to offer.
“We want local businesses to benefit as much as possible and this webinar is a great way for businesses to learn how they can get involved and capitalise from the excitement, not just during the race, but well into the future as we grow our cycling tourism sector.”
