UHY expands trainee intake in Nottingham
UHY’s Nottingham office has welcomed eight new recruits to its trainee programme, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to developing future accountancy talent.
The latest cohort includes five graduates in the audit team, a school leaver and a placement student in accounting and business services (ABS), bringing the total number of trainees at the office to 22.
The programme offers a structured route into the profession, combining study support with hands-on experience.
School leavers typically train for five years and graduates for three, progressing from advanced bookkeeping through AAT and ACA qualifications to become chartered accountants.
Harrison Brister, a trainee in UHY’s audit team, said: “Choosing a career in audit was an easy decision for me.
“I’ve always had a strong interest in business, and audit provides exposure to every aspect of how a company operates.
“When looking for an apprenticeship, UHY stood out to me from the start because of its supportive and welcoming culture.
“It was clear the firm cared just as much about me as a person as they did about my skillset and after nearly one and a half years as a trainee, this care has remained.
“The encouragement and support from colleagues at all levels has been instrumental in my development and I am excited to continue growing within the firm.”
UHY is a top 20 UK accountancy network, with more than 640 professionals across 23 locations offering audit, tax, accounting and advisory services to individuals and businesses.
Andrew Timms, managing partner at the Nottingham office of UHY, added: “It’s fantastic to see another strong cohort of young apprentices join UHY.
“Supporting new talent is at the heart of our firm’s growth, and we are committed to equipping our trainees with the skills and experience needed to become the next generation of accountancy professionals.
“UHY has recently undergone a rebrand and a key part of this is to help people prosper, which applies to our clients and internal teams.
“By investing in trainees from the outset, we foster a skilled workforce and create opportunities for individuals to qualify as chartered accountants, while gaining invaluable real-world experience.”
