Accountants scale new heights for charity
A North East business team has taken on a challenging charity fundraiser by climbing the UK’s highest peak.
Employees from Newcastle and Durham accountancy firm Robson Laidler reached the 1345-metre summit of Ben Nevis, surpassing their £1000 fundraising goal.
Their efforts supported the firm’s community foundation, managed by Point North, which backs underserved projects across the region.
The seven-hour trek was led by Gateshead-based Alexander Adventures, with the group marking their success back at base camp with a BBQ, sauna and campfire celebration.
Amy Park, head of people and culture, said: “This year’s challenge was one of our toughest yet – but we made it to the top and back down again, driven by our purpose to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
“We’re incredibly proud to have raised vital funds for charities and community groups working tirelessly to support those in urgent need.
“Along the way, we had fun, bonded as a team and looked out for each other at every step.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who donated and supported us.
“And after conquering Scafell Pike last year and now Ben Nevis, we’re already eyeing up Snowdon for our next team charity challenge!”
Michelle Cooper, Point North chief executive, added: “The money raised by Robson Laidler Accountants will be distributed throughout the region.
“The donations might go towards a food bank for local families, or cooking lessons for young adults.
“It might go to community centres, who keep their doors open and their heating on throughout winter, or it might support a talented young athlete to travel to a tournament.”
