Hedley Planning powers ahead with turbine work
A planning consultancy is expanding its renewable energy portfolio following the approval of a new wind turbine scheme in the East Midlands.
Hexham-headquartered Hedley Planning, which also has an office in Newcastle, has secured permission to replace a storm-damaged turbine on farmland at New Holbeck Farm, in Halam, Nottinghamshire, with a 68.5-metre Vestas V47 model.
Alex Franklin, associate director at Hedley Planning, who oversaw the planning application, said: “We are delighted to have secured approval and look forward to the replacement turbine coming on stream soon.
“We continue to face an energy crisis in the UK, so harnessing the wind can be one of the most efficient ways to supply clean energy for local landowners and homeowners.
“We continue to see applications coming forward as people look to plug into greener energy solutions.”
Approval was granted via a Section 73 application, allowing changes to the previously approved turbine’s design and height.
Hedley Planning also undertook radar and noise assessments to confirm the site’s suitability.
The new three-bladed turbine, designed for rural and agricultural use, is expected to be operational by autumn.
