Construction firm powers on with £15 million work
A builder is powering ahead after securing £15 million energy efficiency work.
Hobson & Porter is set to refurbish hundreds of East Riding of Yorkshire Council homes and properties.
Bosses say the four-year project will “futureproof buildings for generations to come.”
Hull-based Hobson & Porter will upgrade homes to increase energy performance, with work already underway to install solar panels across more than 20 residential streets and improve loft spaces.
It will carry out structural repairs and refurbishments across council-owned offices, industrial units and depots, with work set to include insulated flooring, rewiring, new heating systems and drainage repairs.
The firm will also work on communal areas in assisted living schemes and apartment buildings, and a series of garage blocks.
Sam Robertson, of Hobson & Porter, which has worked with East Riding of Yorkshire Council for a number of years, said its latest project is “particularly rewarding”.
He added: “Having worked on the council’s previous frameworks for the last seven years, I’m happy we’ve been recognised as a key partner in delivering this latest scheme.
“It will significantly improve the council’s property portfolio across East Yorkshire and futureproof buildings and homes for generations.”
Councillor Gary McMaster, East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet member for planning, housing and infrastructure, added: “This contract will ensure homes and buildings are fit for purpose for many years to come.”
The work adds to a Hobson & Porter project to rebuild two sheltered housing developments in Anlaby and Driffield, and the refurbishment of two supported living developments in Hornsea.
