Engineering design firm expands with cash boost
A mechanical, electrical and digital engineering design firm is set to create jobs after landing “significant” funding.
JH Partners Consulting Engineers plans to bolster its team and upgrade software following NEL Debt Finance support.
Bosses at the County Durham-based operator say the undisclosed cash backing provides a “strong platform for growth… and long-term sustainable success”.
The business, which works across the education, healthcare, residential and retail sectors, was supported by the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II – NEL Debt Finance Fund, which is operated by NEL Fund Managers.
A spokesperson said: “Partnering with NEL enables us to enhance the scale and quality of our design services within the construction industry.
“NEL’s support has also given us a broader view of what can be achieved to help deliver even greater value to clients.”
Rachael Munro, NEL Fund Managers’ investment executive, added: “This was a great opportunity to work with a fantastic team looking to strengthen their service offering.”
The deal was introduced by Graeme Harrison, of CCBS, who worked alongside NEL Fund Managers and David Cudlip, at The Advisory Group, to support financial structuring and investment preparation.
Mincoffs Solicitors’ corporate partner Chris Hughes and associate solicitor Max Gilchrist provided legal advice.
Overseen by British Business Bank, the £660 million Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II covers the North and provides loans from £25,000 to £2 million, and equity investment of up to £5 million, to small and medium-sized businesses.
The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II – NEL Debt Finance Fund offers support from £100,000 to £2 million to support companies’ growth ambitions.
