Historic city building set for new commercial era
A 13th century merchant’s house is set for a new commercial chapter.
Plans have been approved to transform Newcastle’s 4/6 Trinity Chare into office space.
Building work is now being carried out to refurbish the three-floor venue and add LED lighting, heat pumps and broadband connectivity.
Byker-based Design North is leading interior design plans, with Evenii, based near Tow Law, in County Durham, overseeing fit-out work.
The property, on the city’s Quayside, has been brought to the lettings market by JK Property Consultants.
Kevan Carrick, co-founder at JK Property Consultants, said: “Bringing such an important and attractive listed building into use is an essential part of protecting the long-term future for Trinity House.
“A unique historical asset for the city, it is now guaranteed a great future.
“It offers a great location by Newcastle Quayside, which is perfect for businesses seeking to create a memorable brand presence.
“It’s rare to find a property with this level of character and potential in such a prime location.”
Wylam-based Dene Building Consultancy secured planning approval from Newcastle City Council for the building’s transformation.
