Construction firm revives fire-damaged restaurant
A West Yorkshire construction firm has completed a £2 million restoration project to revive a landmark restaurant ravaged by fire.
Huddersfield-based Radcliffe Construction has delivered a full rebuild and refurbishment of The 3 Acres restaurant, investing eight months.
Paul Radcliffe, director, said: “The level of fire damage was vast, meaning the scale of the work was equally large.
“One of the first major jobs in the project was to completely rebuild the restaurant kitchen, which was destroyed in the fire, including fitting a new warm-deck roof and co-ordinating the installation of a new £450,000 commercial kitchen.
“The rest of the building – the main restaurant, bar and bedrooms – were severely smoke-damaged meaning everything had to be stripped back right back to the shell, which had its advantages as it gave us a blank canvas to work with but also presented challenges as it brought to light some existing structural issues a building of The 3 Acres’ age was inevitably going to have.
“As a Huddersfield-based company, we understand what The 3 Acres means to many people in the area, so it has been a privilege to work on bringing it back to life.”
Tom Truelove, owner at The 3 Acres, added: “We are so grateful to the team at Radcliffe Construction for their professionalism and dedication to the project.
“We have quite literally had to rebuild the business from the ground up, and the Radcliffe Construction team has expertly project managed the whole process.”
