New jobs as envelope maker seals takeover
A printing and packaging company has designs on new jobs after completing a takeover.
The Encore Group has bought Heritage Envelopes.
Bosses say the deal could deliver more than 20 jobs across sites in Washington and Dewsbury.
The add the agreement for Heritage Envelopes – bought from Mayer-Kuvert for an undisclosed sum – will “help maintain a healthy envelope market throughout the UK and Europe”.
The Blackburn-based business has been bought as a going concern and will continue to trade as a subsidiary of The Encore Group.
David Cooper, managing director of The Encore Group – which previously bought Leeds’ Great Northern Envelopes and a factory in Peterlee, east Durham, to meet rising demand – said: “This brings together two highly-respected names and enables our group to bolster production levels.
“The high level of service associated with Encore will be received by clients of both businesses, with no interruption to supply.”
Under the terms of the deal, former Heritage Envelopes’ managing director Mark Sears will continue in the same role with Heritage-owned paper bag maker Bestpac UK.
He added: “This deal is important for both parties as it allows Mayer to concentrate solely on an exciting phase of growth for Bestpac and for Encore to boost its envelope volumes in a very tough market.”
The Encore Group was advised on the deal by Newcastle-based law firm Muckle and Leeds’ accountancy practice Brown Butler.
The Mayer Group was supported by Lancashire-based law firm Napthens, and Blackburn’s Connect Financial Management and PM+M Solutions for Business.
