Shipping firm 'triples capacity' at Haydock base
A shipping firm has revealed plans to triple capacity at a distribution hub.
Spring GDS is increasing daily processing at its Haydock base to 25,000 items a day.
It says the move “further demonstrates its strong commitment to the UK”, adding it will “speed up” European-targeted deliveries for customers in the North of England and Scotland.
The shift follows the PostNL subsidiary’s opening of a London Heathrow Airport hub.
Kelly van der Weg, managing director of Spring GDS UK, said: ‘In these unusual times, the UK has the potential to become a more important hub for international e-commerce providers seeking routes into Europe and the US.
“Together with our Heathrow facility, increased capacity at Haydock will help us tap into potential across our ambitious customer base.”
