Castle builds kingdom with unit revamp
A construction contractor has built its order book with industrial unit work.
Castle is overseeing the refurbishment of a 50,000sq ft base at Boldon Business Park, near Sunderland.
Bosses say the project will convert the site into factory, office and warehouse space.
Based on the industrial estate’s Didcot Way, they add work on the site – formerly home to vehicle trim maker Faltec Europe – will include asbestos removal, roof replacement, wall cladding, curtain walling and new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
Hebburn-headquartered Castle, which has further bases in Edinburgh and Glasgow, was appointed by UK Land Estates.
The work builds on previous projects between the operators, which include the renovation of the Grade II-listed St George’s House and Maingate, both on Team Valley.
It also comes after Castle was appointed to build a 15,000sq metre South Tyneside College and South Shields Marine School base.
Andrew Dawson, Castle managing director, said: “We are always very keen to win contracts such as this, especially as we have deep roots in the area.
“We are very proud to support UK Land Estates and further strengthen our relationship with a company that is having a huge impact on the regeneration and economic growth of the North East.”
Adrian Bartle, UK Land Estates construction director, added: “Castle is a trusted supplier with a superb track record for delivery and quality.
“We are delighted to work with the firm once again on this exciting project.”
