Northside Farm appoints new team member

Wedding venue Northside Farm, in Horsley, has welcomed Laura McClurg as its new trainee events assistant, continuing its steady growth and investment in in-house talent.

Laura, 34, joins from a 13-year career in theatre wardrobe at The Sunderland Empire, bringing her backstage expertise in set design and styling to the events industry.

She is now training to run weddings independently by 2026 through the venue’s development programme.

Laura said: “Working in the wedding industry was the perfect fit for the next stage of my career.

“I love the design, set-up, and the creative ways to plan events; it brings out my artistic side and allows me to use my skills in a completely new and rewarding way.

“Northside Farm is such a beautiful venue that it has become such a pleasure to go to work every day.

“With having a blank canvas of the barn and gin gang, means I can use my creativity and insight to support the team in creating the most bespoke of weddings for our couples.”

Originally established in 2011, Northside Farm has evolved into one of Northumberland’s leading wedding venues, known for its creative and personalised celebrations.

Olivia Lockey, owner of Northside Farm, added: “We are delighted to welcome Laura to the team.

“We have set up our own in-house training program with the vision to recruit another trainee next year and steadily expand our team, training them to our own high customer service standards.

“Laura was a great fit as she is detail oriented and her background in theatre meant she had the transferable skills and creativity we were looking for.”
