Variety appoints industry leaders to NW Props board
Variety, the children’s charity, has welcomed Marc Goldberg, chief executive of sales and distribution at Together, and Debra Cooper, partner at Hill Dickinson, as new board members.
Both join a team of industry leaders supporting the delivery of the North West PROPS awards, a key event in the property calendar.
Marc, who brings over 30 years of commercial finance experience and has long supported the charity financially, said: I’ve long admired Variety’s work promoting equity and inclusion, values that are shared by myself and Together.
“I was delighted to join the board to help shape a brighter future for children. My focus is on raising awareness and rallying business support to fund Variety’s life-changing programmes.
“Events like the North West Props are vital, uniting the region’s professionals to celebrate success and raise money that makes a real difference to families in our communities.
“Despite ongoing economic uncertainty, the North West’s property sector is performing well.
“My appointment to the Variety board comes at an exciting time for the region, with promising investment opportunities continuing to emerge.”
Debra, a seasoned property law expert with more than 16 years’ experience, added: “Joining the Variety board is a true honour.
“It is an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded industry leaders to deliver a standout event on the property calendar while raising funds for Variety’s life changing work with children and families.
“Despite the headwinds facing the wider market, the North West remains full of ambition, innovation and opportunity.
“The sector is driven by strategic development and a growing commitment to sustainability and technology.
“I’m excited to work with this high calibre board and the Variety team to make the 2025 event a powerful celebration of the region’s unity and generosity and to also build as many buses as we possibly can!”
The appointments come as nominations open for the 2025 PROPS awards, taking place on 16 October in Manchester.
The 2024 event raised over £285,000 for disabled and disadvantaged children, including funding four sunshine coaches.
Lyn Staunton, development director at Variety, added: “ Marc and Debra’s wealth of experience and commitment to both the property sector and charitable causes makes them both a fantastic addition to the board.
“The North West Props Awards is not only a celebration of industry excellence but also a vital fundraising event that directly supports disabled and disadvantaged children that need it most in the region.
“With Marc and Debra on board and the continued dedication of our incredible Board members, we are confident that the 2025 event will be our most impactful yet.”
