Esh wins £160 million water works deal
A construction company is set to strengthen its regional impact with a new contract.
Esh Construction has been named sole delivery partner for Northumbrian Water’s Wastewater Networks Framework - an eight-year repairs and maintenance agreement worth up to £20 million annually.
The contract covers essential works on the region’s wastewater network, including sewer repairs, manhole replacements and emergency blockages, delivered around the clock.
Working alongside its primary delivery partner Jet Aire, Esh will deploy around 200 staff from its County Durham and Cramlington bases, supported by a local supply chain.
Bosses say the new framework builds on Esh’s ongoing collaborations with Northumbrian Water, including its appointment to Northumbrian Water’s Ecosystem Framework in 2024.
David Pratt, divisional director at Esh Construction, said: “This framework is where it all started for Esh and Northumbrian Water; it is the bedrock of our relationship.
“It’s where our journey began more than two decades ago, and we’re immensely proud to have been chosen as the sole provider this time around.”
Cheryl Lang, commercial and contracts manager for wastewater networks at Northumbrian Water, added: “Esh Construction has been our trusted framework partner in wastewater sewer repair and maintenance for a number of years.
“During that time, we have seen our performance in sewer flooding and pollution reduction, as well as customer satisfaction, improve year on year, and undoubtedly Esh has played a key part in this success.
“I am delighted that following a robust procurement process, Esh Construction has once again proven to be a top performer throughout the tender.”
