MEC builds strong roots in Birmingham
A technical consultancy is celebrating a successful first year since reopening its Birmingham office.
MEC Consulting Group, based in Temple Street's Northspring building, has grown its team to ten, added new civils and structures disciplines, and created a base for its group management function.
And bosses say it has a host of new appointments and further recruitment in the pipeline.
Rob MacDonald, MEC’s regional director, said: “We have always had an active client base in and around Birmingham and since returning to the city last year, there has been a strong demand to reconnect.
“This momentum has resulted in notable successes, including growing the team from two to ten; adding new disciplines; securing new residential development work for Harper Crewe, Bromford Homes and Stonebond Properties; and strengthening our relationships with other Birmingham-based consultants such as Richborough, IM Land and rg+p Ltd.
“Our first year has exceeded our expectations and our projected growth means we are now actively recruiting to bring more roles into the Birmingham office.
“We are particularly seeking engineers and technicians to support the growth of our pre-planning disciplines including flood risk drainage, transport and geo-environmental.”
Alex Bennett, managing director at MEC, which also has offices in Leicester and Brighton, added: “Our growth in Birmingham has been exceptional and is underpinned by a successful recruitment strategy.
“This has enabled us to attract some of the city’s leading professionals, who bring a fresh approach to our civils and structures offering and are already leading on detailed design work for schemes in Worcestershire, Daventry and Cheltenham.
“Investment in Birmingham, its suburbs and the wider West Midlands continues at pace.
“With a multi-skilled team now in place, we are excited to continue growing our presence by delivering positive development across the region.”
