Scape secures funding for new student scheme
A student accommodation provider is set to expand its London co-living offer thanks to a £125 million deal.
Scape has secured NatWest support to create a 135-bed site in Canada Water.
Due to complete in August 2026, the new homes will sit alongside an existing 778-bed student accommodation scheme, also operated by Scape, which will be refinanced as part of the deal.
Ronan Kierans, head of debt at Scape, which currently has 7500 beds in operation and development across the UK under both its student and co-living brands, said:“We’re thrilled to be partnering with NatWest, which has a fantastic record of consistently delivering funding for Scape.
“With our growing pipeline of purpose-built student accommodation and living developments, we look forward to continuing our well-established relationship.
“Our growth strategy remains as ambitious as ever – we’re actively seeking new opportunities in the purpose-built student accommodation and living spaces.”
It marks the second time NatWest has supported the developer, following a 713-bed project in Hammersmith, which is due to finish this summer.
Eirini Kalamara, relationship director at NatWest, said: “As a leading housing lender, we are delighted to continue supporting Scape as the business expands its housing schemes.
“By aligning our financing options with our clients’ evolving requirements, we are continuing to support them through changing demands for flexible living arrangements across the sector.”
