Engineers unite 'to tap into £15 billion work pipeline'
Two engineering firms have united in a bid to capitalise on a “£15 billion investment pipeline”.
Blackrow Group and On Line Group have joined forces.
Bosses say the move will help unlock work across the companies’ Humber heartland, including the 20,000-construction-job Viking CCS carbon capture and storage project.
The scheme was backed in the Government’s spending review, with Blackrow and On Line officials saying Westminster’s blueprint leaves them “buoyed” for the future.
Under the terms of the partnership, Blackrow – known for designing and making wind turbine, solar installation and biofuel plant parts – will lead on installation and mechanical services.
On Line Group – which operates across the downstream oil and gas sector – will provide design and project management support.
Collectively employing more than 600 people, the firms have bases in Grimsby, Immingham, Leicester, Southampton and Daresbury, near Warrington.
Tony Booker, Blackrow Group managing director, said: “This is a momentous and proud milestone for us.
“With more than 80 years’ combined expertise, this strengthens our offering and positions us for continued success in the years ahead.”
Barry Taylor, On Line Group managing director, added: “The services this partnership now offers creates value for clients, which we firmly believe can only enhance their experience.
“This alliance will enhance our mutual competitive advantage and deliver success for the next generation.”
