Duo join Hodgson Sayers board

Stanley-based roofing and building specialist Hodgson Sayers has appointed two senior managers to its board of directors.

Marie Errington (Beckwith) becomes bid and administration director, while Peter Condren steps up as operations director.

Both have been with the business for many years and have progressed through a variety of roles.

Marie joined Hodgson Sayers in 2006 as a sales ledger clerk and has since advanced through several positions, including office manager.

In her new role as director, she is responsible for overseeing bid management and ensuring bids align with the company’s overall business strategy.

She also manages business compliance and quality control, administration functions, staff management, social value initiatives and business management systems such as ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015.

Marie said: “I am delighted with my new appointment as bid and administration director.

“Throughout my journey at Hodgson Sayers, I have worked in collaboration with some wonderful people who have supported and mentored me, helping me to develop my knowledge and skills and, for that, I am truly grateful.

“I am fortunate to have been part of Hodgson Sayers over the past 19 years, and I am excited for the future of the business and look forward to the next phase of my own personal growth within the company.”

Peter began his career with Hodgson Sayers as an apprentice bricklayer at age 17, introduced to the firm by his uncle, a slate tiler.

After a year-long break to travel the world, Peter returned and progressed through site supervision and contract management roles.

Now as operations director, he oversees a team including ten contract managers, two qualified and one trainee quantity surveyor, a BIM specialist, and support staff.

Peter added: “Throughout my career at Hodgson Sayers, the senior management team has always supported and encouraged me to develop, learn new skills and to progress to the next level.

“Becoming operations director is the outcome of the investment the company has placed in me over the years and all the effort I have put in.

“The reason why I, and so many other colleagues, have forged great careers with the firm, is that it encourages staff to move forward and it always delivers on its promise.”

The 100-strong firm operates across the North of England and the Midlands, where it also has a depot in Nottingham.

John Sayers, managing director of Hodgson Sayers, added: “Marie and Peter are tremendous assets to our business.

“They are talented, totally committed and have worked closely with other members of the senior management team for many years.

“Despite the time they have both been with us, they represent a new, younger generation of directors who will lead the company forward well into the future.

“I am delighted they have accepted the role of director and I look forward to working even more closely with them going forward.”
