Greaves West & Ayre promotes two new partners
Chartered accountant Greaves West & Ayre (GWA), based in Berwick-upon-Tweed, has announced the promotion of Joseph Findlay and Matthew Taylor to partner.
The pair joined the firm in 2019 and both qualified as chartered accountants in 2022.
Joseph brings a strong background in tax planning, including succession and inheritance tax, capital gains, and income tax.
He also advises a wide range of owner-managed businesses, individuals and charities.
Joseph said: “Having set out to become a chartered accountant following university, my goal has always been to assist local businesses and individuals which Greaves West & Ayre has been doing successfully for over 100 years.
“I am delighted to be joining the partnership and look forward to contributing further to both the firm, and the wider business community.”
Matthew, who operates primarily within the tax department, specialises in compliance, financial forecasting and business restructuring.
He also advises on inheritance tax, estate planning, lifetime gifting and trust management.
Matthew added: “I joined Greaves West & Ayre because I wanted to assist clients with all aspects of accountancy, tax planning and business consultancy, which this firm offers.
“I have enjoyed supporting the partners in advising our clients and I am looking forward to taking the next step in my career and being a direct point of contact for our clients and their businesses.”
Their promotions strengthen GWA’s leadership as it continues to grow its advisory and tax expertise across the region.
Colin Frame, partner of GWA, added: “Joseph and Matthew are great examples of our approach to recruiting and training.
“Both of them joined the firm as trainees, and through their hard work, with support from our wider team, they have earned this promotion.
“As partners, they will continue their professional development for many years.
“I wish them many congratulations.”
