Builder's 'exciting journey' with £16.8 million deal
A family-run contractor has secured a £16.8 million deal to drive forward a 2000-home development.
Hall Construction Services is set to oversee highway and utilities work on Burtree Garden Village.
The firm will deliver a new roundabout for the first phase of the scheme, based on the outskirts of Darlington, as well as new roads, drainage systems and a 20-acre landscape park.
Burtree Garden Village is being delivered by Wynyard and Washington-based Hellens Group alongside Homes England and Darlington Borough Council.
Bosses say it will include homes, community facilities and up to 200,000sq metres of business space.
James Hall, director at Hall Construction Services, which is based near Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, said: “This marks the beginning of an exciting journey to create a thoughtfully designed community that respects and enhances the natural landscape.
“We are proud to play a role in shaping a sustainable and vibrant future for this part of Darlington and our local area.”
Gavin Cordwell-Smith, Hellens Group chief executive, added: “As a respected regional business with deep roots in the North East, Hall Construction Services’ expertise and track record align perfectly with our ambitions for the site.”
