Robson Laider expands with Tindles deal
An accountancy firm has expanded into Teesside following an acquisition.
Newcastle and Durham-based Robson Laidler has bought Tindles Chartered Accountants.
Bosses say the deal, which is Robson Laider’s largest acquisition since forming more than a century ago, will bring its group turnover to around £9 million and brings its total headcount in Newcastle, Durham and now Teesside to 126 staff.
They add that the move will push Robson Laidler into the top 100 accountancy firms in the UK, according to Accountancy Age.
Nick Wilson, co-managing director at Robson Laidler, which has recently been listed one of the UK’s Best Places to Work by the Sunday Times and has been shortlisted as ‘Firm of the Year’ in the regional accountancy awards, said: “This forms an important part of our overall growth and investment strategy where we aim to open more office locations across our five-year-vision.
“Our strategy is to remain independent whilst keeping our purpose at the forefront of everything we do, which is to make a positive difference to people’s lives and that includes our clients, our people and the wider community.
“Rob and Angela have built a hugely successful business over many years in Teesside and are a fantastic fit in terms of shared values, services and geographically where we want to grow our business.
“Ensuring continuity across our whole client base is paramount and we are excited to have Tindles join us on our journey to make the biggest impact possible as a unified force.”
Under the terms of the deal, Tindles will continue to trade under its name for around six months, retaining its existing 20-strong team at its Medway House base, in Teesdale Business Park, with founder Robert Tindle and partner Angela Foster remaining in post as part of the integration.
Robert added: “I am delighted to conclude this deal and become part of the Robson Laidler group, which will strengthen our ability to provide the continued excellent high-quality service to our clients and the future of our team.
“I look forward to working closely with the team to integrate our businesses, while maintaining the values that have always been at the heart of Tindles.”
Newcastle-based Hay & Kilner and JLF provided legal advice to Robson Laidler, while Stockton-baaed Punch Robson acted for Tindles.
