Bio-D cleans up with B Corp recertification
A Hull-based eco-cleaning product manufacturer has earned recognition for its sustainability efforts.
Bio-D has achieved B Corp recertification with a 30 per cent increase in its impact score, rising from 80.2 to 104.3.
The new score places Bio-D among the top-performing ‘outstanding’ businesses on the B Corp scale.
Bio-D improved across all five assessment areas – governance, workers, community, environment and customers – with standout progress in its environmental impact, driven by energy-saving innovations and packaging reductions.
Lloyd Atkin, managing director of Bio-D, which was the first company in Hull to achieve B Corp certification, said: “This result reflects the incredible hard work of the team, our commitment to improving sustainability year after year and our belief that business can, and should be, a force for good.
“Achieving a 30 per cent increase is no easy feat and scoring over 100 places us among the very best.
“We’re delighted.”
The recertification follows the firm’s recent success in securing a King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development, in 2024, underlining its ongoing commitment to sustainable manufacturing.
Heather Nixon, sustainability, NPD and regulatory manager at Bio-D, added: “This is a tribute to the good we do as a company and we should be very proud of this new achievement.
“It shows that sustainability is not just something we talk about; it’s something we measure and improve upon.”
