Crystal clear growth for Alta Ego
A spiritual gift shop has expanded its space to meet growing customer demand.
Alta Ego, a long-standing trader in Middlesbrough’s Dundas Indoor Market, has doubled in size, offering a wider selection of crystals, incense, pagan gifts, books and fair-trade treasures.
Owner Nicole Bean, who launched the shop more than eight years ago and describes Alta Ego as “our little spiritual and esoteric corner of the world,” says the larger layout makes browsing easier and more enjoyable for shoppers, especially those with mobility issues or those who are pushing buggies.
Nicole is also full of praise for market manager David Harris and managing agent Dodds Brown, who have helped support her growth plans.
She said: “I just love being in here.
“We’ve got a real family thing going on and all the businesses who move here really buy into that.
“It’s not just about the numbers.
“They really do have an interest in helping local small businesses.”
Alta Ego’s expansion forms part of a wider redevelopment at the market, which has created seven new units and 2500sq ft of additional space to support local independent traders.
