Team building wrapped in sustainability
A North East startup is turning gift wrapping into a team-building tool.
Whitley Bay entrepreneur Aoife Forbes has launched Forbes Finishings, a professional gift-wrapping service.
Alongside traditional wrapping, Aoife offers team building workshops that focus on sustainability and mental wellbeing through the practice of gift wrapping.
The sessions, already delivered to clients including North Tyneside Council, Quorum Park and Sage, teach employees to wrap creatively with minimal waste and without Sellotape.
Aoife says she aims to expand the workshops across the region, targeting B Corp and employee-focused businesses that are looking to combine eco-friendly values with team connection.
Aoife said: “I love encouraging people to create personal and individual gift wrap.
“For example, why not use old comics, maps, wallpaper, music score, posters, nostalgic magazines and crossword puzzles.
“Think about the recipient and use your imagination to make it truly unique.
“By making gift bags that can be reused, paper that might go to landfill and no plastic, gift wrapping can be very sustainable and lots more fun.
Aoife added: “Gift wrapping also allows us to work with our hands, which is a proven way to boost our mental health and reduce anxiety.”
