Chamber appoints marketing manager
Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber has appointed Matthew Trueman as its new marketing manager to help businesses across the region grow and access support.
Matthew will lead efforts to grow the 1100-strong member organisation and promote the Chamber’s activities, including networking events, training and practical business support.
An award-winning marketeer, Matthew joins from apprenticeship provider Whyy? Change, where he rose from marketing intern to head of communications.
In 2023, he was named South Yorkshire’s Technology & Digital Apprentice of the Year.
He holds a Level 6 Diploma in Professional Marketing and is vice-chair of education for CIM Yorkshire.
Matthew said: “Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber plays a vital role in supporting the local business community and I’m looking forward to using the skills I’ve developed during my career to supporting the Chamber’s members and ensuring that the voice of business across South Yorkshire is seen and heard.
“The Chamber plays an incredibly diverse role, from hosting networking events, delivering training and of course celebrating the achievements of local businesses through its annual business awards, and it’s an exciting opportunity to help businesses across the region to connect and engage with the organisation.”
Shane Young, operations director at Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber, added: “Matthew’s appointment is part of our long-term commitment to helping businesses across the region access the wide range of services and support delivered by Barnsley and Rotherham.
“In his new role, Matthew will be responsible for delivering the Chamber’s marketing and communications strategy, including social media management, SEO, event promotion, content creation and digital engagement.”
