Filtronic 'delighted' as big deals double revenues
A technology firm says it is “looking forward with further optimism” after blue-ribbon contracts more than doubled revenues.
Filtronic expects earnings to rise to £56.3 million in the year to May 31, with adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation coming in three times higher at £16.6 million.
The County Durham company’s progress was fuelled by a number of headline projects, including a £24 million contract to supply power amplifiers to Elon Musk’s SpaceX aerospace venture.
The firm, which is expanding operations at its base on NETPark, in Sedgefield, also recently secured a contract to provide “critical components” for defence operator Leonardo’s Active Electronically Scanned Array radar systems.
It announced a further deal to supply equipment to Airbus Defence and Space to support satellite production for Eutelsat OneWeb.
And bosses say “a healthy order book… and growing pipeline” leaves the business in a strong position to meet market expectations across its 2026 financial year.
Nat Edington, chief executive, said: “We are delighted with this strong trading performance.
“We look forward to the 2026 financial year with further optimism as we continue to invest in the business and capitalise on the expanding market opportunity in front of us.
“The focus will be on broadening the customer base, completing key technology developments and relocating our manufacturing site in Sedgefield to a new facility at the same science park, doubling our operational footprint.”
Alongside its County Durham headquarters, Filtronic operates a Leeds hub and further sites in Manchester and Cambridge Science Park.
