Teesworks service hub set to create jobs
An industrial site is set to create more than 100 new jobs with plans for a new service hub.
Teesworks Ltd has secured outline planning permission from Redcar & Cleveland Council to build a hotel, drive-throughs, a pub/restaurant and a petrol station on brownfield land near the former Lackenby steelworks.
The 4.3-hectare development will sit on the southwestern edge of the giant 2500-acre Teesworks site.
Designed to support workers and visitors, the complex will include retail and leisure units alongside a 160-room hotel, helping to meet growing demand from people using the site and the wider local community.
Chris Musgrave, Teesworks Ltd chairman said: “As the Teesworks site continues to take shape and more companies arrive on site, the need for more facilities to accommodate workers and visitors is growing.
“That’s why it is really important for us to be able to offer people coming to the site in a variety of different capacities the services which they will be expecting to find, from overnight accommodation to food and drink.
“With planning permission now secured, we’re keen to get the ball rolling and will be talking to various operators about taking space there.
“This creates further beneficial economic activity in the area from companies and people providing those facilities, helping to create more jobs and bring further investment into the area.”
