Hotels group reveals multi-million city refurb plans
A leisure sector firm has unveiled multi-million-pound expansion plans.
Splendid Hospitality Group has bought York’s 37 Tanner Row and is primed to seal a deal for the city’s 98 Walmgate.
Bosses say the Grade II-listed Tanner Row property could be converted into “luxury hotel suites”, with 98 Walmgate earmarked for an “accommodation and food and beverage offering”.
The blueprint follows a major refurbishment of the company’s ibis Styles York centre property, which has added 16 bedrooms to the site, and “substantial” upgrades to The Grand, which officials say will include a renovation of the site’s spa and rooms.
The firm is also assessing plans to add bedrooms to its Holiday Inn Express York base.
Nadeem Boghani, Splendid Hospitality Group executive chair, said: “Our investment isn’t just financial, it’s a commitment to creating a positive impact for the next generation.
“As a family-owned business, we are focused on creating lasting impact through regeneration, entrepreneurialism, high-quality hospitality and meaningful job creation.”
