Chapter 50 initiative launches in Weardale
Age UK County Durham has appointed Katie Corrigan as project officer for its National Lottery-funded campaign, Chapter 50 – Future You.
Katie will lead the launch in Weardale before expanding the initiative into Newton Aycliffe, supporting people aged 50 to 69 to prepare for a happy, healthy retirement.
The project focuses on wellbeing, digital skills, financial and legal planning and community activities, with a launch event on Wednesday, July 9 at St Thomas Church Hall, Stanhope.
Katie previously served as chair of Durham County Council and was the youngest-ever mayor of Durham.
She has since worked across several community-focused charities and continues to volunteer locally, including as a school governor and at Durham City Safety Hub.
Katie said: “I have always enjoyed community-focused roles.
“Chapter 50 – Future You gives me the opportunity to bring community partners together to enhance local initiatives and empower individuals to thrive, with the purpose of ensuring the people of County Durham can all age well and enjoy life to the fullest.”
Age UK County Durham is a registered local charity and trusted partner of Age UK, supporting people over 50 across the county to age well.
